There was a fraudulent charge of {$71.00} with additional charges totaling {$200.00} that I just found out about on an old Kohls credit card that had been cut up for years. I had the card since XXXX with no late payments at all. I did not know of any charges on a credit card that I had cut up years ago. I was checking to see why my credit score went from XXXX down to XXXX. When I found out about this charge, I notified Kohls immediately & reported this charge as fraudulent. Approximately 1 year prior I had a stranger call me, I dont remember where he was calling me from, asking for my full SS & full name & DOB. I refused to give any info & asked if this line was recorded because I was calling the police to report him. To date I have contacted Kohls at the office of the president, Capitol One & heard this debt is with a 2nd collection agency. He said he could settle if I paid today XX/XX/XXXX. I told him I paid cash for my condo & my car is paid off. I pay all my bills early approx {$3500.00} per month paid in full. I told him if I made the charge I would have paid any charge in full the same month a purchase was made. I am being harrassed & sent emails to consolidate a debt. I have worked hard to keep my credit score excellent and have been trying to resolve this issue since I found out about it at the end of XX/XX/XXXX. I have spent hours on the phone with no help getting this resolved. Can you please help resolve this issue. I am trying to purchase a new home. Thank you

I disputed unauthorized payments to XXXX and instructed them to cease making payments to them. They were supposed to stop those payments and dispute those charges from my account. However, they still allowed XXXX to take payments from my account, which increased my credit usage on my credit report and consequently dropped my credit score.

I been a capital one credit card customer for a long time. Last month I upgraded to Capital one XXXX XXXX to venture with an annual fee. And when I saw they started charging me interest fee after I paid off my monthly amount. I decided to down grade back to XXXX XXXX, so I don't have to pay the monthly fee. When I called them to do that the customer service agent said yes, you could do that without getting any problems with your credit score going down. I double checked with her about this information with her three times. Then I decided to downgrade my credit card. But they didn't cancel my Capital one venture card, so they could still charge me annual fee. I found out this month and called again to stop my XXXX card. And now my credit card went down XXXX points. They lied to me about downgrading my credit card and still kept the account I cancelled open to charge me. And lied to me about the credit score not getting affected.
Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

CFPB Complaint Capital One Credit Limit Reduction Date of complaint : XX/XX/year> Product : Credit card ( QuicksilverOne ) On XX/XX/year>, Capital One reduced my credit limit from {$7000.00} to {$4000.00} without any prior notice. I was not contacted in advance by phone, letter, or message. I only discovered the reduction after receiving a flood of emails and alerts on XX/XX/year> the same day the action was taken. The formal letter explaining the reduction was also dated XX/XX/year>, meaning I received no opportunity to address any concerns before Capital One acted. I have been a Capital One cardholder for approximately XXXX years. In that time, I have XXXX reported late payments on this account or any other account on my credit report. Every account I hold is current and paid. Capital One cited XXXX reasons. I dispute each one : 1. " The current balance on this account, relative to its credit line. '' On XX/XX/year>, my balance was approximately {$3700.00} on a {$7000.00} credit line roughly 54 % utilization. Rather than working with me to address this, Capital One reduced my limit to {$4000.00}, which pushed my utilization to approximately 95 %. This action made the problem dramatically worse, not better. It is counterproductive and punitive. 2. " A payment on XXXX or more of your Capital One accounts was recently returned. '' The returned payment did not occur on this account. It occurred on a separate Capital One card, was an isolated incident, has since been resolved, and that account is now current. Capital One cross-penalized this account for a single incident on a different card after XXXX years of perfect payment history. This is disproportionate. 3. " Presence of a personal finance loan. '' I have had this personal loan for an extended period, and it has always been paid on time. This loan existed throughout my entire ten-year relationship with Capital One. If it was not a concern for the past decade, it can not reasonably justify a credit line reduction now with no change in payment status. 4. " There are too many recently opened credit cards. '' I recently opened XXXX new credit card. Opening a single card is normal consumer behavior and does not indicate elevated risk, particularly given XXXX years of XXXX missed payments across all accounts. The harm : This credit line reduction increased my utilization ratio from approximately 54 % to approximately 95 % overnight, which will further damage my credit score. Capital One 's action created a harmful cycle : they reduced my limit citing risk factors, but the reduction itself worsens my credit profile, potentially triggering further adverse actions from other creditors. This was done with no prior notice, no opportunity to respond, and despite a decade of perfect payment history. I spoke to a supervisor 3 times. They basically said nothing you can do and there is no other avenue like appeal, nothing!
